George Clooney’s Oxfordshire Home Renovation Project Continues

George Clooney’s Oxfordshire mansion is currently undergoing a major home renovation worth £10 million.

The Oceans 11 star purchased the Sonning Eye property with his wife, Amal, following their Venice wedding last year.

Over the last year, Clooney has pursued listed building work on the 17th-century Grade II Aberlash House. The home currently has a gym, steam room, study, family room, formal dining room, wine cellar and library.

However, the celebrity couple are hoping to add a new pool house, a swimming pool and a tennis court. A pergola, a hot tub and a 12-seater cinema will also be included as part of the project.

According to a Hello! article from March, Clooney and his wife have submitted proposals to the local council asking for the replacement of entrance gates, a new boundary fence and piers.

The development has been controversial in the local community, with residents objecting to the actor’s plans to add 18-foot poles with multiple CCTV cameras to the property.

South Oxfordshire District Council gave the security system the green light last month, despite concerns over privacy. Nevertheless, a retired police officer who is currently guarding the Clooney mansion believes locals will soon change their minds.

“I think the locals will love it when he’s finally here,” the officer told the Daily Star.
